BFLC Strategic Partnerships Philosophy

Club First. Player Focused. Community Driven.

At Burnaby Field Lacrosse Club (BFLC), every decision we make is guided by one question:

What is best for our players, our Club, and the long-term growth of field lacrosse?

As field lacrosse continues to evolve across British Columbia, participation numbers and competitive opportunities can vary between age divisions, particularly within both the Co-Ed and Female programs.

To ensure our athletes have access to the best possible experience, BFLC supports exploring strategic partnerships with neighboring clubs when they create meaningful benefits for our members and strengthen opportunities for player development.

Our goal is simple: to provide the best possible experience for our athletes while building a sustainable future for the Club.

Why Strategic Partnerships Matter

More Opportunities

  • Increased access to competitive and developmental pathways.
  • Greater opportunities for athletes to play, develop, and compete.
  • Enhanced opportunities to participate at the highest levels available within their age division.

Stronger Player Development

  • Larger player pools can create stronger and more competitive training environments.
  • Access to a broader range of coaching experience and expertise.
  • Increased opportunities for athletes to challenge themselves and continue their development.

Sustainable Programs

  • Helps maintain healthy and viable programs across all age divisions.
  • Supports long-term participation and player retention.
  • Strengthens the overall field lacrosse community for future generations.

A Stronger Future

  • Creates opportunities for athletes pursuing higher levels of play.
  • Encourages collaboration and growth within the sport.
  • Supports the continued success and sustainability of field lacrosse in our region.

Our Commitment

BFLC recognizes that not every family will support every partnership opportunity, and we respect that there may be differing opinions within our membership.

As a Board, our responsibility is to make decisions that are in the best interests of the Club, our players, and the broader lacrosse community. While individual perspectives may differ, our focus will always remain on creating the best possible opportunities for athletes while supporting the long-term success of Burnaby Field Lacrosse Club.

We are committed to being transparent throughout the process. Members will receive ongoing communication regarding potential partnerships, the reasons they are being considered, and how decisions are being made.

To ensure fairness, consistency, and accountability, BFLC will establish clear partnership guidelines and operating principles that promote:

  • Fair and equitable opportunities for all players.
  • Balanced representation between participating clubs.
  • Consistent communication and decision-making.
  • Player development as the primary priority.
  • Respect for each club’s identity, culture, and membership.
  • Clearly defined roles, responsibilities, and expectations for all participating organizations.

Strategic partnerships are intended to create opportunities—not replace the Burnaby identity. BFLC remains committed to preserving and strengthening our Club while providing the best possible development pathway for our athletes.

Annual Review

BFLC recognizes that the needs of players, families, and the sport can change from year to year.

For this reason, any partnership arrangement will be reviewed annually by the Board of Directors to ensure it continues to serve the best interests of:

  • Our players
  • Our families
  • Our teams
  • Our Club
  • The long-term growth of field lacrosse

No partnership will be considered permanent, and all arrangements will remain subject to annual review and evaluation.

Looking Ahead

We believe every athlete deserves the opportunity to play, develop, compete, and have fun in a positive and supportive environment.

Strategic partnerships are one of the tools that can help create stronger opportunities, stronger development pathways, and a stronger future for our players and our Club.

While not every decision will satisfy every individual preference, BFLC remains committed to making thoughtful, player-focused decisions that support the overall health of the Club, the community, and the game of field lacrosse.

One Club. One Family. One Goal.
